    Essential Kenya

The ideal Kenya itinerary explores the country’s diverse landscapes and cultures in conversation with each other. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.

    • Day 1-3: Nairobi

Begin an extraordinary visit to Kenya with a stay at the exclusive Giraffe Manor, where you can experience once-in-a-lifetime interactions with these gentle giants at the same time as you are exploring the sights and sounds of Nairobi, including elephant orphanages and wildlife conservation centers. You can also enjoy a guided tour of the home of Karen Von Blixen—the author of Out of Africa and the woman who inspired a generation of safari travelers. The home remains an architectural gem and her beloved view of the Ngong Hills inspires.

    • Day 4-6: Chyulu Hills

View the beautiful Athi Plains from above as you wing your way to the Chyulu Hills, located between Amboseli National Park and Tsavo National Park. Set in an unspoiled corner of Kenya, the Chyulu range are the youngest of volcanic hills in Africa, with the last volcanic activity having happened only 600 years ago. Here, you will enjoy exclusive access to a quarter million acres of pristine wilderness, with views of Mount Kilimanjaro, for game drives to see Big Five animals and vast plains.

    • Day 7-10: Maasai Mara

At the magical Maasai Mara Game Reserve, you will find the Africa of your imagination. It is a country of rolling grasslands and groves of acacia woodland along the banks of the Mara River, where hippos and crocodiles bask in the sun. The Mara is considered the finest game sanctuary in Kenya, home to an astonishing number and variety of migratory animals.  In addition to traditional game drives and sundowners, here you have the opportunity to enjoy activities like night game drives, picnic lunches and guided bush walks.

"From watching thousands of warriors march into manhood in the Loita Hills, to witnessing a young bride fall in love on her wedding day, to sharing barbeques of roasted goat with old men and camping between two roaring prides of lions north of Serengeti, I feel so lucky to have seen and known the changing world of the Maasai."
